Are your lampshades fire retardant? Yes. The design has been safety tested to ensure it complies with the relevant British Standard for lighting safety. The lampshades are treated inside with a non-toxic water-borne fire retardant spray. Your lampshade must be used with a low-energy light bulb (compact fluorescent) which emits less heat than the old type of bulb (tungsten filament).
Do you make lampshades for floor lamps? Yes, we make lampshades for all kinds of lighting including:
- table lamp shades
- floor lamp shades
- bedside lamp shades
- pendant lampshades for ceiling lights.
What type of light fitting to your lampshades fit? Pendant shades are available in a standard UK fitting (30mm fitting) which fits the normal pendant light fittings found in most homes. Pendants are also available in the the larger “Euro” fitting (42mm) which is suitable for the larger light fittings found in new-build homes (these are sometimes referred to as dedicated low-energy fittings because they take a low-energy light bulb only and do not fit the old-style tungsten bulbs). Our table/floor lampshades are currently available in standard UK (30mm) fitting only, but if you need one in the 42mm fitting, get in touch.
Do you take commissions? Yes. If you need a lampshade in a particular size or colour, get in touch to discuss commissioning a bespoke lampshade. We can hand dye a lampshade to match your colour scheme, add a particular trim to match your existing accessories, or make a version in a larger or smaller size. Don’t hesitate to get in touch to discuss your ideas, with no obligation whatsoever.
How do you deliver? We normally send out all orders via first class Royal Mail, or Royal Mail parcels. Postage and packing is charged at a flat rate of £4 for delivery across the UK, charged per order not per item. (If you prefer an alternative method of delivery, for example Guaranteed or Signed For we will arrange that. Please get in touch via phone or email to arrange an alternative delivery method or for delivery outside the UK.)
Do you ship to destinations outside the UK? Yes, wherever you live we can deliver to you. Please get in touch via email (helen@osedesigns.co.uk) or phone (+44(0)7941959950) if you want to discuss delivery methods and timescales. Alternatively, simply make your purchase in the online shop and delivery costs will be calculated at checkout. Please note that you will be liable for any taxes payable on entry to the destination country.
What is the delivery time? Shades are generally made to order, and delivery time is usually 5-6 working days from the date of your order. For bespoke shades, delivery time may be longer, depending on the size of the lampshade and whether materials need to be sourced specially – at the time of ordering a bespoke shade we will give you an approximate delivery time. If you need your lampshade urgently, let us know and we will do our utmost to get it to you as fast as possible.
What does the name Ose mean? ‘Ose’ is French for ‘Dare’. Why ‘Ose’? Because my designs are unusual and I want you to dare to choose a lampshade which makes a statement, something out of the ordinary. If you want to know more background info, visit the About page.
